Project overview
Gusto Tools is a local startup that aims to break into the motor industry and compete with the top brands currently occupying that industry. Our goal was to create not only an array of product photography, but also cultural photographs that align with the brand and customer audience they are trying to reach.
project process
The marketing manager had a very specific vision when it came to the photography of these tools, as they said early doors that they wanted bright highlights and a crok texture background. We found as we moved forward that the texture from the cork really complimented the chrome of the tools and the strong highlights emphasised the craftsmanship that went into making them. When it came to the cultural shots, they wanted the shots to echo back to the 70's when D.I.Y motorbike fixing became more popular. To acheive this look we used a vintage soviet era lens that had a very shallow depth of field, alongside creating that grainy warm kodak look that was so emblamatic of the 70's.
